Hey there! My name is Beth Crace & I am a Certified Transformational Nutrition ® Coach, a Certified National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Trainer, and a Level 1 Crossfit Coach (don’t let that scare you, I’m not a fanatic).
I began my own health journey back in 2005 when my first daughter was 3 years old. I had reached the point where I was unhappy. You know, when people say “You look great”, but inside you feel blah? When you think people are looking at you in those jeans that are a little too snug & you wear loose tops to cover up the rolls? When you bend over & you feel like you need to unbutton your pants to get a deep breath?
I had put everything I had into this wonderful little human being, but had neglected myself. It was hard to admit I had let myself go…that I had put myself on the back burner. So, I made a plunge & joined Weight Watchers, but after hitting my “goal” weight I found it difficult to maintain my recommended weight & was always stressing out when it came to the weekly weigh in. It loomed over me Every week!
I did keep that weight off, unfortunately through TONS of running & restrictive dieting. On a side note, I was a Diet Coke junkie! Then I got pregnant with my second daughter just 2 years after I lost the last 40 lbs of the 85 I had put on.
I stayed active through my pregnancy & was biting at the bit during the 6 weeks post-partum to get back into the gym. I quickly lost my weight & I dropped to the lowest weight I had been since high school. I didn’t say it was my healthiest weight or that I felt healthy.
I ran. A LOT. I ate….very little. I was occupied with a daughter in kindergarten and a baby who was attached at my hip. I was always cold and always thinking about food. Even though I loved being able to fit into clothes I hadn’t fit into in a long time, I can’t say I was happy.
Then came my 2nd knee surgery & weight gain hit. My orthopedic told me if I kept runing as much as I was, I would have to have knee replacements before 40. I cried, I mourned, & I kept running… even through the pain. For another year I endured the pain. Then when I was in constant pain, I decided I had to give up the only thing I knew to keep my weight off.
Speed up the process…I turned to weights, hired a personal trainer, and became a personal trainer because I wanted to use my personal experience and educate others. I quickly discovered there was more to the equation. My clients didn’t seem to have a problem with working out, but they struggled with the nutrition piece of the puzzle. But nutrition wasn’t exactly it either. They could eat what I recommended, but only for 3 months max.
Then I discovered the Institute of Transformational Nutrition, Inc. (ITN), & I knew I had found what I was looking for. ITN wasn’t like any other certifications I’d seen. It didn’t just teach me to tell clients to do A, B, & C. It taught me how to guide, direct, & empower people to take charge of their own health.
Now, I am on a mission to help moms who have discovered they haven’t been putting themselves first. Maybe your health hasn’t been a priority and you may have tried every d.i.e.t. known to (wo)man, but nothing seems to work or stick. I would love to hear from you and what you struggle with.
